Wildlife Appreciation Group (WAG)

WAG’s mission is to spread the love of wildlife to our peers in vet school. From our flagship WAG/MAG Speaker Night, inaugural Trivia Night to social media platforms to share monthly animal features and wildlife placement experiences by students, we are always looking for more creative ways to bring wildlife closer to you.

We also update our socials regarding overseas wildlife related EMS placements or career-related posts when the opportunity arises!

Give us a follow on our Facebook and Instagram pages to stay updated on our events and activities for the year!

MAG & WAG Speaker Night

The annual Speaker Night hosted over 70 DVM students across all 4 years to hear more from seasoned veterinarians working in the wildlife and marine sectors! Additionally, the event raised a total of $1200, which was donated to Wildlife Victoria and Vets for Climate Action.

Group of people standing in a room with a projector screen displaying 'Battle of the SIGs'; digital illustrations of an octopus and a dolphin adorn the photo, along with wavy lines and the text 'Battle of the SIGs' at the top and bottom.

Battle of the SIGs

Four SIGs came together to test the general knowledge of our DVM1 and DVM2 peers on 17 September 2024. We ended the day with a hot, scrumptious Don Tojo dinner!

Wildlife First Aid

Kate Turner, owner of Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter, gave a Wildlife First Aid Presentation for vet students! She shared her experiences with different species such as kangaroos, wombats and magpies, and even taught us how to wrap up a kangaroo’s limb!
